Learn more about me and the reasons I founded Gabby's Handcrafted Haven
Hi! I am Gabby, the founder of Gabby's Handcrafted Haven. I never used to think I was a creative person, and I often struggled with art at school. I was the child who loved reading, maths and science, and was more academic than creative. My mum is the opposite to that, and loves art, with a talent for sketching. As I grew older, she took on new hobbies of card and jewellery making, and I joined in. And as they say, the rest is history.

Hobbies, hobbies and even more hobbies!
After using my mum's supplies for a while, I eventually began to build up my own (still used my mum's every now and then!), and would make cards for friends and family, and jewellery for myself and my mum. At the time it was just an on and off hobby.
While I was at secondary school, they started a knitter knatter club, to encourage knitting squares to make blankets for charity. So I popped off to the local market and asked the lady at the stall to point me in the right direction, and I bought some supplies. After I learnt to knit and made some squares with holes in, I stopped for a while. But when I found my cousin and his fiancee were having a baby, I decided to knit them a blanket. Although I enjoyed knitting, I also found it quite frustrating. But then I found crochet, and began to crochet baby blankets instead for any new arrivals.
And now...
For a while I was crafting on and off, mainly crafting for birthdays and Christmas. But for my birthday and Christmas last year, my parents bought me a Sizzix Big Shot die cutting machine and lots of jewellery supplies.
Recently, many people around me have told me I should start selling the things I make, so I have finally decided to do that, and have started Gabby's Handcrafted Haven. I will be starting with cards, and then move on to jewellery, hampers and more!
I will be using this blog to take you on my journey of having my own small handmade business. Subscribe to this blog so you don't miss a post, and let me know in the comments below what you would like to hear about next!
